Strategic Foresight Project Lead

Dr. Sarah Georgin is a project lead on the Strategic Foresight Team, a newly established team within the Center for Space Policy and Strategy (CSPS) at The Aerospace Corporation. The team’s focus is on transforming the space and national security enterprise through application of disciplined methods to enhance decisionmaking amid uncertainty. In her role, Georgin leads projects on strategy, innovation, foresight, and policy across a range of direct customer sets and external engagement opportunities through CSPS. Previously, Georgin held a position in the Electric Propulsion Laboratory, where she focused on diagnostic development for low-temperature plasma physics.

Prior to joining Aerospace, Georgin held a role in Raytheon’s corporate venture capital investing branch, specializing in pre-Series A defense technology investing. Before that, Georgin worked with McKinsey & Company as a special consultant in the aerospace and defense practice, primarily working on strategy and corporate finance. During her time at McKinsey, she also led the development of analytics modeling/forecasting for the commercial space industry.

Georgin has more than 20 technical publications to her credit, including several featured articles in peer-reviewed journals.

Georgin earned a bachelor’s degree in astronautical engineering from the University of Southern California, and a master’s degree and a doctorate in aerospace engineering (with a specialty in electric propulsion and plasma physics) from the University of Michigan. During her graduate career, Georgin was named a NASA Space Technology Research fellow and a Zonta International Amelia Earhart fellow.

Georgin is the recipient of the Orville and Wilbur Wright Graduate Award from the American Institute for Aeronautics and Astronautics.
