Event details
Event details
Announcing The Aerospace Corporation’s Center for Space Policy and Strategy’s 2nd annual summit event to discuss diversity, equity, and inclusion in the space workforce.
We invite students from higher learning institutions in space-related programs around the country to virtually discuss diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) for the future of the space workforce, how their own experiences have challenged their education, and strategize how to improve DEI and the overall strength of the space workforce. We are looking for a passionate and dynamic group of students with diverse experiences and perspectives to participate in this unique opportunity to inform leading decision-makers in space on how the future space workforce can be more diverse, equitable, and inclusive.
The two-hour virtual roundtable will take place the week of August 8 via Zoom - exact date will depend on responses.
This exclusive event will:
-
Assemble students from higher learning institutions across the US
-
Foster open, honest, and exploratory conversation on DEI in the space workforce
-
Contribute to a written report of findings and recommendations to improve DEI
Students selected to attend will gather for an opening plenary session with keynote followed by breakout rooms covering a range of sub-areas based on participant suggestions and preferences – for example K-12 education, US Space Force culture, school to workplace pipeline, media representation, or collaboration between STEM/non-STEM. The groups will then reconvene to share findings.
Participating in this summit will allow your voice to be heard. If you come from an underrepresented community, have thoughts on DEI in the space industry, or simply want to share your experiences, then we want to hear from you! In addition to contributing your insight directly to the space industry, this event will allow you to network with others and can even be included on a resume or CV.
Applications are due at midnight ET on July 15th, 2022, and participants will be selected and notified within two weeks of the deadline.
