Event details

CSPS policy analyst Robin Dickey will have a fireside chat with the Space Force Deputy Chief of Space Operations for Personnel, Patricia Mulcahy, to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing the development of space warfighters and space professionals, including reservists, government civilians, and contractors involved in the Space Force. How will the Space Force develop a unique identity and culture? What key decisions will need to be made for Space Force training and recruitment? What does it mean to be a space warfighter? How can we find the optimal mix of roles and assignments between uniformed servicemembers and civilians?

This discussion will be followed by a panel moderated by Dr. Paula Thornhill, a retired Air Force Brigadier General and the current Associate Director of the Strategic Studies Program at Johns Hopkins SAIS. The panelists, a mix representing uniformed servicemembers, government civilians, and civilian contractors, will discuss perspectives on the Space Force from the personnel and warfighters themselves. Tune in to this live event to learn more about the people of the Space Force and the questions involved in developing a new service culture and identity for the first time in 70 years.
